Hi! I’m Dr. Rebecca Provorse, a naturopathic physician (ND), educator and professional speaker. Early in my practice I discovered a love for endocrinology and soon attracted patients who were suffering tremendously without adequate sex hormones, either due to natural decline or early life dysfunction. But this was nearly 20 years ago and I had begun my work in the shadow of the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) Study, a time when the mainstream medical message was that “hormones cause breast cancer” (especially estrogen).
But that didn’t make sense to me. How was it that women who delivered more children had less risk for this cancer? Certainly, they were exposed to more estrogen and higher levels of other sex hormones over their lives. My discomfort with the mainstream message led me to dig into the topic by consuming hundreds of books and research papers, trying to make sense of the conflict between “Standard of Care” and what made sense from an endocrine perspective.
Then, in 2006, a patient introduced me to rhythmic hormone therapy (HT): a form of replacement that mimicked the body’s natural, endogenous rhythms and levels. Medically, the concept fell squarely into my natural medicine belief system: supporting the body to heal itself. However, as the only Oregon provider offering rhythmic HT, I had to teach myself how to apply these concepts in clinical practice without mentoring or support from experienced providers. The professional isolation I felt was draining and slowed my progress. I want your experience to be different. You don’t need to do this on your own. My courses will give you the benefit of my 17 year of experience prescribing hormone therapies and utilizing other modalities to treat endocrine dysfunction, as you bring this transformative care to your patients.
